'Fig tree' in the Bible

Then said the trees to the fig tree, 'Come thou and be king over us.'

And the fig tree answered them, 'Should I forsake my sweetness and my good fruit, and should go to be promoted over the trees?'

And Judah and Israel dwelt without fear, every man under his vine and under his fig tree from Dan to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

Hearken not unto Hezekiah, for thus sayeth the king of Assyria, 'Deal kindly with me, and come out to me. And then eat every man of his own vine, and of his own fig tree, and drink every man of the water of his own well,

Whoso keepeth his fig tree, shall enjoy the fruits thereof; he that waiteth upon his master, shall come to honour.

The fig tree hath brought forth her figs, and the vine blossoms give a savour.

Moreover, I will gather them in, sayeth the LORD, so that there shall not be one grape upon the vine, neither one fig upon the fig tree, and the leaves shall be plucked off. And the thing that I have given to them shall be taken from them."

I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness, and saw their fathers as the first figs in the top of the fig tree. But they are gone to Baalpeor, and run away from me to that shameful Idol, and are become as abominable as their lovers.

But every man shall sit under his vineyard and under his fig tree, and no man to fray him away: for the mouth of the LORD of Hosts hath spoken it.

Then shall every man call for his neighbour, under the vine and under the fig tree, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.

and spied a fig tree in the way, and came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said to it, "Never fruit grow on thee hence forwards." And anon the fig tree withered away.

And when his disciples saw that, they marveled saying, "How soon is the fig tree withered away!"

Jesus answered, and said unto them, "Verily I say unto you, if ye shall have faith, and shall not doubt, ye shall not only do that which I have done to the fig tree: but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, take thyself away, and cast thyself into the sea, it shall be done.

"Learn a similitude of the fig tree: when his branches are yet tender, and his leaves sprung, ye know that summer is nigh.

and he spied a fig tree afar off, having leaves, and went to see whether he might find anything thereon: but when he came thereto, he found nothing but leaves. For the time of figs was not yet.

And in the morning as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up by the roots.

And Peter remembered, and said unto him, "Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst, is withered away."

"Learn a similitude of the fig tree. When his branches are yet tender, and hath brought forth leaves, ye know that summer is near.

He put forth this similitude, "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

Then said he to the dresser of his vineyard, 'Behold, this three years have I come and sought fruit in this fig tree, and find none. Cut it down. Why cumbereth it the ground?'

Wherefore, he ran before, and climbed up into a wild fig tree to see him. For he should come that same way.

And he showed them a similitude, "Behold the fig tree, and all other trees,

Nathanael said unto him, "From where knowest thou me?" Jesus answered, and said unto him, "Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee."

Jesus answered and said unto him, "Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, thou believest? Thou shalt see greater things than these."

Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries: or a vine bear figs? So can no fountain give both salt water and fresh also.

and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth from her her figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
